Home Network Help Please

Posted: 02-16-2007, 07:14 PM
Hi,

Have just installed Vista Ultimate on my desktop. Have 2 laptops which
normally connect to the home network via wireless. Wireless G Access point
wired to deskptop and previously all worked when I had xp installed on
desktop.
All 3 computers have the same workgroup name.

Internet connection working on desktop and access point is WEP enabled.
Laptops connect to access point but the internet connection does not work.
Can also not pick each other up on the network and unable to ping each other.

Why do you need two NICs?

I am no computer boff but that is the way I set it up a couple of years back.
One is connected to the Linksys access point and the other to the internet
modem.

Please any ideas - it worked just fine with XP so can't understand why not
working now.

UPDATE - Have spent some more time on this networking issue and have
partially managed to sort it out.

Am now able to see the other networked pc (and vice versa) but no internet
connection on the 2nd pc.

I am pasting a copy of the new ipconfig (desktop with Vista Ultimate) so
hopefully someone can help.

It looks better. before both NICs were assign the same IP range. Which one connect to the Internet? Make sure that one has default gate wand DNS.
