How can I access hard-drive from a boot disk to copy?

Actually, I think you want to hit the F8 key to get to safe
mode. On one of my computers, I hold down the Control key
throughout the boot and it gets me there too. Sometimes
the computer boots so fast that I can't catch it with F8.

Good Luck ...

If you are trying to access your HD from an MSDOS boot disk, and your HD is
formatted as NTFS, you will be unable to access the HD, since MSDOS does not
know how to access an NTFS volume.

Also, if you are trying to access the HD with an MSDOS 6.x (or below) boot
disk, and the HD is formatted as FAT32, you will also be unable to access
the HD, since versions of Microsoft OS's previous to Windows 95b are unable
to access a FAT32 volume.
