Re: How can I stop software from automatically loading at start up?

This is by design and perfectly normal when unchecking items in one of
the available tabs. If you wish for the utility to remain in the Normal
Startup mode you will need to follow the specified path to the object you
are disabling and remove the entry (this only applies to the Startup
Group). These entries are generally loaded from either the Run key in the
registry or from the Startup Group found in the Program Files directory.
There are two ways to do this one of which involves editing the registry
and the
other doesn't.
Without editing the Registry
1. Right Click on the Start button and select Explore. (this will open
Windows Explorer to the Start Menu directory)
2. Expand the Programs subdirectory found on the left hand side under Start
Menu.
3. You will see a directory labeled "Startup". Any icons/programs found in
this directory will launch at startup. You can simply move or delete these
entries to prevent them from loading. This will remove the entry from
within the Startup tab in MSCONFIG.
Edit the registry.
1. Make sure you make a backup of the registry with either system restore
or
scanregw
2. open up the registry by tying regedit in the run box
3. go to the loaction the file is being loaded from, look at the loaded
from
catagory to tell you where in the registry it is being loaded. If you can't
locate
the right key do a search for the command line found in the command catagory
4. once you have found the appropriate key delete it
5. Open up msconfig and that entry will now be gone
You can leave the utility in Selective Startup without causing any
conflicts in the operating system. Simply select the check box on the
Selective Startup message that appears on the next reboot to prevent the
message from appearing at every boot. If you have disabled this option but
continue to see the message follow the article listed below.
