| I do NOT want to have to give these update programs permission EVERY time I start my computer , how do I make the permission permanent? I don't know why THIS function has to be so complicated. | Guest

| Buy some software that knows how to run under Vista or write your own. "Rob" <Rob@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:0B8F3DC3-977B-4973-BAD8-6D5C95F837A5@microsoft.com... Quote:

| Hello, There is no way to grant this program permission automatically. The application is in error - it should not be prompting for your permission on startup in the first place. -- - JB Microsoft MVP - Windows Shell/User Windows Vista Support Faq http://www.jimmah.com/vista/ | Guest

| Thanks Jim , I will just ax the program and contact Intervideo about the error. BTW Dave , it is a listed VISTA READY program from Intervideo called WinDVD 8 , the part that causes the warning about not being registered is the automatic update program that came with it that wants to start at boot and I guess run constantly , I really don't think I need it. | You need to Turn off User Account Control setting in order to stop it from asking for permission each time it starts up. It's a security thing Vista has built in to it and a pain in the arse, but itcan be bypassed. Open Control Panel, open User accounts and turn it off there. "Rob" wrote: Quote:
