How do I change my full name and company name in profile?

Posted: 03-05-2008, 04:02 AM
I purchase a new PC with Vista Home Premium from BestBuy and had them
install a graphics card. Well, evidently, they did the basic boot up and
check up stuff.

Now, everytime I install new software, the software grabs my name suggestion
as being "owner" and my company "Hewlett Packard". Microsoft Office, Visual
Studio 2008, everything. Of course, all I have to do is type in my correct
name, but it is very aggravating. The name on my user account is "Bill" (I
changed it when I got the computer home) but I cannot find where to change
my default full name and company. It is NOT in Control Panel > User
Accounts. Seems like this was easy to do in XP.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Bill

Hey

The read-only attribute isn't causing the access issue. (Also, folders don't
have read-only attributes; that box is only there so you can easily
set/clear this attribute on the files inside of that folder).

An administrative user has write access to this folder.

However, in Windows Vista, applications cannot USE this right unless they
ask the user for permission ("Windows needs your permission to continue").

So, accessing this location will fail from Access, even if the user is an
administrator.

What kind of data are you needing to modify here? Can you put it in the
user's profile folder instead of a machine-wide location? if so, that will
solve this problem.
