How do I get Excel 2008 to save text fileformats with LF instead of CR?

Processor: Intel

How do I get Excel 2008 to save text file formats with LF instead of CR? LF is the line ending character on OS X and UNIX. CR is from OS 9 and earlier. Is there a way to force Excel to use LF instead of CR. The extra conversion step is a pain.
