ok windows vista has completely messed up my pc. i have an hp pavillion
dv5000, i ran the upgrade checker and it said i would be fine. i ran it from
the cd and it errored on 19% loading the files. i tried extracting the iso
and running from the hdd and it errored while trying to initialize the drive,
i then ounted the image with daemon tools and got the same error. now
everytime i turn on my pc the windows boot manager pops up. it wont roll back
the installation. i have done a system restore and it has made no difference
whatsoever. how the **** do i get rid of this?!?!

1. Did you verify the MD5 checksum of the .iso to be sure it was a good file?
2. Did you do a true back-up/full hard-drive image?
3. Were you installing Vista to a separate partition or hard-drive?

Try this (no guarantees but it seems to be somewhat the same issue you are
having with Vista overwriting the bootmanager):
