In addition, I disable the rendering/display of the remote PCs desktop wallpaper when I am in a
Remote Desktop session. I think it speeds up the data connection... You can disable the desktop
wallpaper for all clients using a Group Policy. On the host, run 'gpedit.msc' from the command line
and look at "Local Computer Policy -> Administrative Templates -> Windows Components -> Terminal
Services" for the policy to "Enforce Removal of Remote Desktop Wallpaper"....

But, to echo Bill, I used Remote Desktop over a 56K dialup link (usually getting 36K tops) with no
ill effects.
