How to identify what service pack and hotfixes have been applied to XP Pro/Home

Posted: 07-07-2003, 08:00 PM
I'm trying to see which hotfixes/patches and service packs
have been applied to both Windows XP Professional and
Windows XP Home computers.

I assumed I could go to the MY COMPUTER icon and right
mouse click to PROPERTIES. It doesn't tell me much about
the current status of the OS there.

Where can I find out which hotfixes/patches and service
packs have been applied?

Thanks in advance,
Jeff Wright

Go into Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs, and select the
Change/Remove Programs function on the left side. Scroll down in the
right pane to the bottom and you'll see what patches have been installed.

An easy way is to go open up MSIE, surf to Windows Update
(http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/) or (Tools->Windows Update) and
choose "View installation history". This should bring back a list of
installed patches and their status.

Windows Update web site has a history page that shows the contents of
your local WU history file in an easily readable format.

These are updates that were installed at some point. WU doesn't record
updates that you uninstall later through Add/Remove, but the history
feature is useful.
