How many tcp ip connections can be made at same time?

Hi, just have a question that a lot of me and my friends need answer to.

In Windows Vista: How many tcp ip connections can be made at same time?

This is because we are using torrent to distribute software we developed.
When we use Vista and a torrent application it looks like when there is more
tcp connection the Vista locks newer ones. Is it possible to open Vista for
more tcp connections?
