how to allow ping with firewall on

Hi,

I am trying to figure out how to allow ping for a Vista Business
machine. Some people mentioned to enable ICMP echo request in the core
networking rule, however I found that the option is unavailable (this is
a standalone machine and the option is gray out). The only way I can
do that is to create a custom rule to allow all ICMP traffic. Is it
there should be a easier way to do that?

Thanks

Yes that´s how you do it. You create a custom rule, allow ICMP traffic
and specify which ICMP traffic you want to allow, in your case echo
request.
