How to change the "System Model" on Windows XP Home

Here's a question that was posted on ExpertAsk.com. Can you help this
person? On our site, you can help people and make money at the same
time by answering questions. Here's the question:

"I have a Toshiba A25-S307 notebook, some how the System Model in the
msinfo file has been changed from "Satellite A25" to "Portable PC". It
must still be OK in the DMI because it will let me use the OEM disk at
boot to use the Ghost restore file. I need to reinstall one of the
programs on the OEM disk from within Windows and it gives me an error
message saying the disk is for an A25 not a Portable PC. I would like
to change it back without having to use the Ghost disk that came with
the PC. I have over 20 Gigs of Photos on the drive not to mention all
of the program files and Windows updates. (I have a dial up Internet
connection)"

And, the link if you want to answer it:

hi andy, you can resolve this issue by simply
editing "oeminfo.ini" file present in c:\windows\system
folder and changing the model type in that text file
from "portable pc" to "Satellite A25" your toshiba model.
it will work fine.

Hi Rishu,

Sounds like that didn't solve "our" problem... the oeminfo.ini already
had the right information in it. Any other thoughts?
