How to get this Newsgroup in my Windows Mail?

The following information will make posting and finding your answers in the
M$ newsgroups much less troublesome? IMHO.
You will get the messages on your PC and not have to go searching the
internet for them.

First thing to do is go to tools>options>read tab and *ensure* that you have
a
tick in "Get ### headers", I set mine to 50 to start with for subscribing to
new groups, the default is 300.

Either link below will open your Windows Mail communities account for you.

For this group:
news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsof...ows.vista.mail

For general help with Vista:
news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsof....vista.general

**!! Next thing to do is 'munge' your email address before you make a post
or a reply !!**

Go to tools>accounts>double click the M$ communities account>on the General
Tab change the email address to ****@NOSPAM.***.com by inserting NOSPAM.
after the @

Enter the name you want to use when posting>apply>OK.

On the toolbar you will see the Newsgroups button, click that, then click
'Reset list' to ensure that you have all the groups that are available on
the M$ news server, now select the
other groups that you want to subscribe to, (I suggest doing them one at a
time and use 'GoTo', that way you will only get the ### of messages that you
set earlier). This group alone would throw about 30,000 at you if you do it
any differently.

Now you need to select Microsoft Communities in the folder tree and set the
synchronization settings, right click on each group>sync settings, I have
get 'all messages' set.

Now go to the view menu>layout>customize toolbar>in the left pane select
Sync All>add, move the button up or down the toolbar to suit you? Use that
button to get all your mail and newsgroup messages at the same time.

So now you have the subscribed newsgroups, they will show something like 50
messages 32,000 not downloaded, to get more messages, on the tools menu>get
next headers, when you feel you have gone far enough back right click the
newsgroup>catch up.
That will remove those not downloaded and mark all on your PC as read, so
simply select all>rt click>mark as unread

That should get you started. Much easier than using the web site for the
newsgroups.

Anything else, get back.

People need to uncheck the option to download xxx headers at a time after
doing a catch up in your procedure. Otherwise they will not get the newest
messages, as that feature is flaky both in OE and in WinMail.
