How to make a CD from an audio cassette??

Posted: 10-08-2003, 10:28 PM
I have several audio (music) cassette tapes that I would
like to transfer to CDs, if this is possible (and not too
expensive). I would greatly appreciate any help that
anyone could offer.
Thanks,
Keith

You need a sound card with line or mic in (nearly all
sound cards have these ports). You need to plug your tape
players, headphone or lineout socket to line in/mic in on
the soundcard using an appropriate cable. Then you need
to use some sort of wav recording software to record the
tapes after you play them. Sound recorder would do the
trick but you'd only get 60 seconds worth of recording.
There are loads of free utilities to do the job if you
search for them though. Also you might need to set
Recording in audio propeties to either line in/or mic in.
Hope this helps. Once you have the recorded wavs you can
convert them to mp3 or whatever, or if the recording
software permits it, just recording directly to this
format. If I've been it bit too vague let me know and
I'll explain it in more detail.

Get Microsoft Plus! Digital Media Edition (DME) for 20
bucks . Hook casssete player to stereo receiver, hook
stereo receiver to to "line in" port of pc sound card. You
will need a "Y" adapter/converer available at Radio Shack.
Follow instruction for using "analog recorder" program.
Has worked great for recording my vinyl lp's.
