Try using the add printer wizard and installing it
yourself manually - If T45 is not listed select an HP
deskjet 550 which is a generic windows driver.

You may want to also reset the unit - Unplug the power,
press and hold # and 3 - while pressing # 3 plug the power
back in without releasing the buttons, release when you
see partial reset in the window.

Try setting the LPT port in the BIOS to EPP, not ECP.

I see nothing in the BIOS to set it to either EPP or ECP.

I am following this posting because I'm having the same
problem. When I download the XP driver for this printer,
it tells me there are XP .sys files missing. But I am
also not able to change my LPT port to ECP or EPP because
I can't enter BIOS when I boot the computer (nothing
happens when I press F2 as instructed to enter setup).
Help!

Check your PC manual to ensure that it is F2 you are supposed to be
pressing.... BIOS keypresses differ from PC to PC.

Once the LPT port is set at EPP, if the problem still exists, do a COMPLETE
unisntall and reinstall of the printer as per
http://www.coribright.com/Windows/Article%20One.htm
