I can't find this issue discussed, so I hope I'm not going
over old stuff here.
I put together a new PC recently. P4, 2.4 gig, 512 RAM,
blah, blah, blah ...
I love the system, but ever since the first night it's
reboot on me out of no where. No particular reason,
event, etc. At times I would send the report to MS and it
at times told me it was a device issue, but was never
clear. It continued to reboot on me a few time a day
sometimes.
For some reason, I don't know if an error message led me
to it, I thought the cd rom was the culprit. I unplugged
the hp cd-writer plus internal 9100i cd-rom 4 days ago and
I have not had a reboot since. I'm very hopefully this
was my issue.
Now my question about the drivers ... I am pretty sure
that I went out to the HP site and already had the latest
drivers for this hardware. Was/Is this a known issue?
Any information or advice would be very helpful. Funny
thing, I've never had a problem burning with the cd or
reading from it, just sporadic reboots. Of course it was
always when I had a few applications open and nothing
saved!
TIA,
Mike
