Hp laserjet 1000 xp problem

Laserjet 1000 works fine under window 2000, when i install
it on windows xp (from a shared print server) it also
works fine, till it decides to stop responding. drivers
are up to date, also the ntwork card are up to date,
windows xp, an everything really.... can anyone help?
