HP Pavillion: Cannot Install RC1

Notebook PC.
During the compatibility check, installation stops and the dialog instructs
me to go to "Programs" and uninstall "HP ProtectTools Security Manager." The
problem is this program does not exist when surveying the programs under
Start/All Programs or under A/R P. I find no reference to this program in
the User Guide or on HP's website.
Has anyone else encountered such a problem?
