I have windows xp home verson and recently installed an
HP 1220c printer but have been unable to use the tool box
that comes with the printer. Have contacted HP but they
passed the buck- siad it was XP that was causing the
problem. Error message reads unable to monitor LPT1 your
printer is currently off or capable of one-way
communication only. Is there a solution to this problem.
I have tried setting the Bios but to no avail.

look like a parallel printer, change the parallel mode in
the bios maybe... so the port can be bi-directional.

I have the same situation. What do you mean by setting
the BIOS?

Adding to my previous reply. My printer is not using the
LPT1 parallel port. I'm using USB connection and getting
the same error message you are. Hoping somebody out
there knows the answer.
