HPdeskjet 832c not able to read ink cartridge

Printer was working just fine, then orange warning light indicating ink
catridge problem started blinking. Replaced cartridge with new one, still
blinking. Ran cartridge cleaning and allignment routines, manually cleaned
contacts with alcohol and Q-tip - light still blinking. HP support for
inkjet printers no longer exists - any suggestions. (I cannot afford a new
printer right now, sorry)
