HUGE xp taskbar problem

help!! my taskbar now takes like 2 minutes to load.... i
cant click start and it wont show any programs i have up
and it takes ages to actually get working... some guy i
know says re format but i dont want to there has to be
something else that i can do please help i dont want to
lose all my stuff( it would take like 20 cds to get all
my music documents pictures msn chat logs game saves
and.. yeah) i am running xp professional with pentium 4 2
ghz processor 256mb sd ram if you all need to know that
