I can´t connect myu portable with my PC

I have a PC and portable with WInXP Pro.
But I just can´t see to connect them. Before with Win98SE
it was so easy to connect two PCs, but now using the
assisten, it seems to connect a Firewire conection also
or trying to do a "Puente" between the two Pcs.

Is there a way it can work? I mean like unstalling the
cards or so?

Please help.

It even does a PING!!!!

And I need the conection so I can share big file (2 GB
files) between them
