I can't install any printer

I just Install win Xp .then I try to install acrobat reader pro which install
a printer for pdf making. this program was installed but in the last part of
instalation it said that it can't install the printer. I have this problem
when I want to install winfax program too. at last I connect a hp laserjet
1100 to my computer .windows detect it but said can't install the printer
because it can't find RCP server. please help me
