I have a HP DeskJet 722C printer (port LPT1

and a Lexmark Optra E310
printer (USB001

, both used to work fine on XP (SP2). Sadly, since this
fall, none of these printers worked. I finally solved the Lexmark printer
problem by installing Lexmark drivers, instead of the Windows XP driver.
However, there is no printer driver available for the DeskJet 722C, except
the one provided by Windows XP.
I can state that there is no hardware problem, since I can use the 'align
head' and the 'head cleaning' services, which services print a page.
However, even a simple test page gets rejected, and I get the following
message :
«The test page couldn't be printed... Some driver files are missing or
incorrect. Install the driver again, or install the latest driver».
I uninstalled the printer, re-installed again, and the same problem still
appears.
Is MS scrapping their own drivers ?
