| So here's what's going on...I'm trying to get files off a laptop hd which has a broken screen to another laptop... I've talked to a few people and they recommended me to take the hd out of the broken laptop and put it into a external enclosure. I have gone that far and have hooked it up with my new laptop. Here's where the fun starts... I keep getting a message "access denied" or you "need permission from the administrator." I am the administrator and I know the password to the old laptop, however I have no idea how to get my files off of the hd. I need help I've tried everything in my power... Max | Guest

| You need to take ownership of the folders. Right-click the folder, select Properties > Security Tab > Advanced at the bottom > Owner Tab > Edit > Highlight your username and tick ‘Replace owner on sub containers…’ and OK. Now go back to the Properties > Security Tab, highlight your name and give yourself full permission, if necessary. Also, these two registry changes will add or remove ‘Take Ownership’ to the right-click menu on most folders/files http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/11...ownership.html "Max" wrote: Quote:
