I/O conflict ( code 12 )

Posted: 02-18-2005, 03:47 PM
Hey everyone,
I'm new to this message board.
I have a quick question.

I'm running windows xp pro SP2 I want to upgrade my video card.
SO I uninstalled the nvidia drivers from add remove programs, and ran
Drivercleaner to get rid of any other drivers in the registry.

I pulled my old 32mb geforce nvidia card out and ran put in my new 128mb
radeon 8500.

After powering up the system with the radeon card in I checked device
manager and there's a conflict with my radeon.
It would seem the VIA CPU to AGP I/O and the Radeon both want to use the I/O
value range C000-C0FF
I treid the trouble shooter however I can't uncheck the "automatically
configure" line they tell you to.
It's greyed out.

Just wondering if anyone here has figured out a way to tackle this.

-----------------------------------------------------------
some things i've done.
disable any thing not in use in the bios.
example: floppy drive controller, com 1, com 2, ltp 1, ltp 2.

my motherboard is an Aopen AX 63 with the latest bios.

hope this helps.

Thanks

Was the old card pci and ati agp, youll need to configure that to run in the
BIOS.Youre best bet, pitch the 3rd party software drive cleaner, youre only
going to mess xp up,ecspecially when it has to do with the registry.Reinstall
old card if thats what it takes to get xp rolling again, then in device
mgr,select,
uninstall the card,then shut-down computer,install new,start computer,all
will/would go smooth if you leave xp alone...
