I wanted to ask a question

HI I was wondering if someone could answere a question for me you see i am
fairly new to Windows Vista Basic. I noticed the other time when I installed
a couple of optional updates from windows update. After the optional updates
were installed I noticed an icon on the lower task bar with a green and a
white check mark in the middle of the icon when I put my mouse over it a
message was displayed saying the following
Safety Remove Hardware
what I would like to nwo is what does this mean?
when I double clicked on this icon a box comes up with a box and three
drives are in this box
here what is in this box
wdc wd16 00AAJS-75PSA SCSl Device Drive when I clicked on properities
another box came up saying that this device is working properly this is the
first drive that is highlighted everytime I double click on the icon in the
task bar
Generic Volume (C)
Optiarc DVD +RW cd rom (E)

These are the three options that are in the Remove Hardware box all three of
these drive when i click on proterties are working properly.
What I want to now is what can I do to get rid of this Safety Remove
Hardware icon from my lower task bar

You cannot. But you can HIDE it. Right-click an open area of the
taskbar, click PROPERTIES
Click the NOTIFICATION AREA tab, then CUSTOMIZE
HELP & SUPPORT has more on this, should you need guidance

Yes, you can hide it as explained by others, but for goodness sake DO NOT
use it on those drives. There is little reason to ever use unless you have
enabled delayed write on a removable device, and want to unplug it. Delayed
write is not on by default except for internal drives. In the end, you are
never likely to use it, so go ahead and hide it. In fact if you just leave
it alone, it will eventually hide itself.
