I would like to install an external fax machine, I use LAN

May the question is not clear for me. Is your external fax machine on LAN ?
Or do you want to setup a Windows Server 2003 box as a fax server to send
and receive faxes. Then from your Windows XP box you can 'Add Printer' that
fax server, and have available fax features from your Windows XP client
machine.
