Identity tab for DCOM-components

Posted: 01-28-2005, 03:35 PM
I have a program (a DCOM-component) that is installed in Windows XP
environment and where it works without problems. To get the program working
when not logged in to the computer (the program is started by a service) I
have set a user and a password in the "Identity"-tab for the DCOM-component
(Component Services - Properties - Identity. In this tab I have choosed "This
User" and specified a userand password.

My problem is that I want to do the same thing but at a Windows 2000
operating system. For my DCOM-component the "Identity"-tab is missing for
Windows 2000. The result is that I can't specify a user and a password and
the solution doesn't work! Why is this tab missing for Windows 2000. The
DCOM-component have the other tabs but not the "Identity"-tab. Why? I can see
that for other DCOM-components the Identity-tab exist in Windows 2000. Is my
DCOM-component not a "true" DCOM-component or what? The DCOM-component is an
exe-file and not an dll-file if this can help to give any answer. Is it
possible to set the User and password somewhere else?
