IE 7 Freezing--Where Is The Newsgroup?

Posted: 01-20-2009, 08:09 PM
Interesting...I couldn't find a microsoft.public newsgroup for
Internet Explorer 7 (IE7)?... or IE8 for that matter, beta or
otherwise. Is this along with the Windows 7 beta being covered
exclusively through the web Microsoft Discussion Groups? I've read
that that is the case with W7s beta. I am experiencing an irregularly
occurring freeze problem with IE7 for some still unknown reason this
week/last week.

Thanks.

news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsof...plorer.general
for IE7.

For IE8:
news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsof...texplorer.beta

Darn, I made my first fatal mistake today... I was looking for the
specific version number assuming that MS wouldn't lump them all
together. Thanks.

During the last 90-120 days the freezes have become intolerable [on my
system]. I'm almost ready to reinstall Vista - however I have the feeling
that Vista perhaps, is where the trouble lies!

More likely incompatible add-ins for IE or some hardware failing....

There is a known problem with Adobe Flash 10 causing IE7 to freeze randomly.
The failing module is Flash10a.ocx
According to reports on adobe.com forum Adobe must have been aware of this
error at least since early November 2008, but so far no solution seems to
having been provided.

There seems to be only two possible ways to circumvent this problem:
1: Disable Shockwave Flash Object in IE7 (via Manage Add-ons)
2: uninstall Flash 10 and drop back to Flash 9 (I haven't tried this myself)

regards Sven

Flash 10 has some important improvements that I would be loathe to abandon.
