| The Microsoft Customer Improvement Program thingy or w.e said for one of the problems it couldn't figure out was instead to download the newer IE7-RC1 (7.0.5700.6) from what I have (RC1, 7.0.5384.4). After tring to download from the site http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/...x#ie7Downloads it said that IE7 wasn't supported on this operating system, Vista beta 2 (5384). Now I know for a fact since I'm running IE7 RC1 now, it must be supported. So am I downloading from the wrong url or what? Thanks. | Guest

| How did you even get IE7 RC1 to install on Vista Beta 2? It usually stops you will the warning "This isn't compatible, go away!" Are you sure you have the RC1 version of IE? The only supported way to upgrade IE7 in vista is to upgrade vista to a newer version (upgrade from Vista Beta 2 to Vista RC1...) -- Robert Firth http://www.winvistainfo.org "dr_oracles" wrote: Quote:

| In Windows Vista the right and latest version of IE7 is already included. Do not try to do a manual setup to a version higher or for different Winver. The downloadable IE7 are only for XP and server 2003 OS. If IE7 gets an Update then Vista will automatically downlaod the right version via WindowsUpdate ( WU in Vistas ControlPanel - never go with a VistaSystem to the WindowsUpdate Website ! ) It's all handled now via the Operating System if you choose automatic updates. | I have the same suggestion from Microsoft to go to that link and update IE7 to the latest version. There is no version on that site for Windows Vista so I would imagine it'll be in an update soon. IE7 RC1 is version 7.0.5700.6 and the version included with Windows Vista RC1 is 7.0.5600.16384 so it's not the latest, or the RC1 version of IE7, unless IE7 version #'s are different for Windows XP and Vista. | From the IE7 RC1 download page (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en), Internet Explorer 7 Release Candidate 1 for Windows XP SP2 Which part of "for Windows XP SP2" is causing you the problem? | It's not the problem of being for XP. The problem is the versions numerical differences between the Vista and XP versions. I think he is concerned with having the very latest IE7 possible if in fact both Operating Systems use the same version naming convention. "Colin Barnhorst" wrote: Quote:
