Default If you haven't already downloaded Vista

From Microsoft -
"1) We are hitting a legitimate threshold as to how fast we can serve up
the bits without affecting the rest of the Net.
2) People should consider ordering the DVD. While we are excited to see
the huge demand, this is more about being good citizens and helping users
who are waiting know they can order the DVD."

If you've already gotten a key, just return to the site and change the
option to request a DVD.

maybe Microsoft should send everybody an email stating that one has to be
extremely lucky to install Vista Beta 2. This would make users reconsider
downloading the beta....

I Knew It... However, I Must Say That, I Haven't Noticed a "Slow Down" of
The Internet Because of Vista Download...

No! The Net, (Particularily, Microsofts' Part of It!), IS AS
S-L-O-O-O-O-O-W-W-W-W-W AS EVER!!!

....That's Why I Ordered The DVD!

Thanks, Tom.

I noticed there are Torrents out there for the 32 and 64 bit versions, if
you look around. I was lucky enough to get it from MS and had it install
perfect (on 2 PC's) right off the bat.

Just sign up, get the key and find the torrent and download. Sometimes it
goes fast, sometimes it goes slow, but it'll take a lot of the burden off of
Microsoft.

As for being lucky to get it to work... I've had a great success, as have
many others. There are a few bugs to work out, but that's why its a beta. If
this were a final release, then we can complain all we want. But, these
issues are a big part of the beta. But, as the issues come up, we can submit
bug reports, and they will get fixed in the next version (RC1?). I feel that
even with the problems, we are helping in the development of the OS, and I'm
glad to be a part of that!

I was going to suggest the same thing. I downloaded the x64 version from MS
but I got the x86 version from a torrent download. Torrent clients are
download managers so if you get disconnected it will restart for you or some
you have to do it manually but you'll likely not have to start over. Pick
one with high seeds and has been downloaded a lot (read the comments as
well.)

Torrent can be your friend, heheh.

Thanks for posting this and possibly discouraging enough would be
downloader's to opt for the DVD instead, as a couple of hours later I was
able to start downloading the beta, and now have 38 % of it downloaded so
far.

That's a good idea as long as it doesn't take them weeks and weeks and weeks
to send out and get the DVD!

For those that are not in a super hurry to get their hands on Vista, ordering
the DVD kit may be the best thing. It is most likely error free as opposed to
downloads. It'll prevent headaches, heartaches, discontent and hatred. I see
a lot of problems with the installation and such. Pls consider incomplete
and/or corrupted downloads, errors in burn, overclocked systems as possible
cause. It'll be a long time before the servers cool off.
