IIS 7 & Sql Server 2005 Setup problem

Posted: 11-21-2006, 02:09 PM
dear guys,
I have Windows Vista Ultimate, i installed IIS (default configuration) from
Control Panel -> Programs & Features -> Windows Features dialog, and tested
that http://localhost opens regularly ! everything is OK ! everything in the
IIS console is STARTED !

I'm now trying to run Sql Server 2005 Standard Edition setup, when it
reaches to the system check dialog (prior to the installation itself) it
showes a warning beside IIS in the list of system features ! i read the
warning message, in brief it says: "... IIS is either not installed or not
turned on from Services..." !!!

I got shocked, 'coz : 1) IIS is installed and running
2) there is no service called IIS or anything like this in Services console !

what's going on guys ?? how can i get rid of this warning ??
by the way, i can continue with installation of Sql Server 2005, but i won't
be able to install any feature in Sql Server that requires IIS Server's
functionality !!

Help me please and thank you a million in advance !

You may need to install the II6 admin compatablity bits, checkout the IIS6
Management Compatibilty group in Windows features.

Thanks

There's a CTP for a SQL Server 2005 SP2 available. One of the new "features"
is supposed to be Vista compatibility.

Download it here:

Thank you Harold for this good hint, but, you know, SQl Server 2005 Sp2 is
supposed to be installed on windows vista that has Sql Server 2005 installed
on it ! but i don't have Sql Server installed on my vista computer, 'coz i
have mentioned earlier that i can install Sql Server 2005 on my windows
vista, but just before the installation begins the wizard shows a warning
message that iis is not installed or is turned off -> so that many features
in sql server 2005 won't be available !
now, what should i do: install sql server 2005 regardless to that warning
message which leads to the unavailability of many features in sql server that
depend on the presence of iis, then, after that installing Sql Server 2005
sp2 (when it's released) !

or is there another solution ?

thank you for your efforts !
