Image in an organisational chart

Version: 2004
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Intel

Hi everyone,

I'm in the process of creating a powerpoint template to be used as a proposal. I need one of the slides to contain an organisational chart. I know that you can insert one of these automatically but I want to show a picture of each person then their names and titles below the picture inside each box of the chart. I know that when I insert one of these organisational charts it only allows you to insert text into the boxes and not images. Can someone tell me if it's actually possible to insert an image above the text in an organisational chart? I'm using Powerpoint 2004 on a mac to create the template.

Appreciate any advice.

Thanks

Sorry, but I don't see any way to actually insert the image into the Org
Chart shapes. I've even tried setting an image to In Line With Text in Word
then copying to paste into the chart object with no success at all. The
charts are actually created by an applet [MS Organization Chart] which
doesn't support embedding - text only.

The only alternative I can suggest is to force an empty paragraph at the
beginning of each shape then position the image manually. You can then
select the chart plus all the images & use the Group command to keep
everything together once all is in place.

Thanks for the reply,

I think this must be one of the limitations of Powerpoint for the Mac as I've been told that it's possible to do on the PC side.

I wish there weren't so many differences between the two versions, ie. between mac and pc in powerpoint.

Well, not exactly - at least not as far as I've determined so far.

In PPT 2007 you can insert an image in shapes of the SmartArt Graphics, but
they are inserted as background fill for the shape. Any text in the shape
overprints the graphic. You can do the same in PPT 2008 which employs the
new graphics engine, but since you're using 2004 you don't have the same
capability. The SmartArt Graphics provided by the new engine supports far
more sophisticated effects than are possible in 2003/2004 & prior.

IOW, PPT 2003 (PC) has the same limits as PPT 2004 (Mac) in this respect.
