Install Anomaly With RAID-0 on Asus P5B-Deluxe (ICH8) Chipset

While setting up this new board yesterday (BIOS flashed to the most current
release), Vista x64 RTM 'saw' the empty/blank RAID-array (2x Seagate
Barracuda 7200.10 ST3320620AS) connected to SATA Ports #1 and #2, in a single
RAID-0 configuration of 640GB. I created a 50GB primary partition and
formatted. Install had the partition pre-selected for install. When
clicking 'Next', Vista came back with 'Windows cannot find a volume suitable
for installation'. This configuration worked flawlessly on a Gigabyte
865P-DS3 previously. After several attempts/failures, I decided to create a
small 50GB RAID-0 array, and a secondary RAID-0 array using the balance of
free-space. With this configuration, Vista still argued, and didn't want the
1st 50GB partition! It came back with a message stating 'Windows found a
suitable partition (2) to use'! I rebooted and deleted the 2nd partition,
leaving only the 1st 50GB primary partition, still configured as a RAID-0
array. This last attempt worked flawlessly.

I'm not certain if it's the way the ASUS BIOS 'presents' the logical unit to
Windows, or if there's a glitch in the installer. I just know that for a
more inexperienced user, this could result in significant frustration and
hair-loss :-)
