Is your hard drive on a SATA controller? There is an option to load SATA
controller drivers during install via a "Load Driver" button.

What I would do is to get any boot disk for win98 or winme.
start your computer with boot disk. at the a:\ type "fdisk/mbr"
press enter. from there you need your beta cd in it's drive remove the boot
disk.
resart and go from there. That will wipe out your master boot record that
hangs up from you useing a overlay program. If it still wont see your hard
drive down load softwere from Maxtor that will make it brand new and help you
format it so it can be seen by windows setup files.

RE: Install Vista with problem (can't detect any disk)
Posted: 07-30-2006, 12:30 PM
I am having the same problem with my ddo software also from maxblast, but i
knew that after installing a new os my mbr would be changed, so before i
installed vista i booted from my maxblast cd and made backyps of my master
boot records, this saved my butt. after i backed up my mbr i rebooted into
windows xp and performed a full installation to my spare partition, my drive
config looks like this ide 1 pri master hitachi 60gig split into 2 partitions
c:\winxppro +30 gigs and e:\free partition renamed to vsta +30 gigs,,,, ide 1
pri slave maxtor 200gig also split into 2 partitions d:\installation drive
for xp programs +80 gigs and g:\backup and download storage

after the installation of vista decompressed it's files it rebooted for the
first time, emediatly after bios prompt i noticed my ddo was missing, vista
finished installing and of course i had a 200 gig hd that says it is only
32gigs vista wanted me to format this drive i refused and restarted my
computer at the dual boot screen i choose to start my xp os it failed to boot
ntldr missing, i rebooted again, this time witjh the maxblast disk in the
drive after reinstalling ddo both ose's failed to start major problems, i
rebooted again with the maxblast cd restored the mbr and rebooted again xp
still failed to boot,,, error loaded needed dlls for kernel so i tried vista
fired right up, so i formatted the vista drive reinstalled ddo and
reinstalled xp to the old vista partition after my pc rebooted i installed
ddo again and rebooted xpfinished installing hardware and started all of the
data and partitions on the 200 gig maxtor were intact,

currently i have formatted once more and reinstalled vista i have not and
will not format the 32gig maxtor drive so untill maxtor adds vista support to
their maxblaast software this is were i will sit, there is one thing i wish i
would have tried before re installing vista though, on the maxtor site
www.maxtor.com theres a downloadable reg fix for large disk enabled in win
xp, i still might format 1 more time reinstall xp and download this file, i'm
not certain but it might help us with this ddo headache we are experiencing
with vista, happy beta testing and if you happen to find a fix please submit
it in this forum good luck were going to need it.
