| To All Cognoscenti, Greetings! Because of a disk failure I'm having to rebuild my system from scratch. Having recovered Vista Ultimate from the recovery DVD, I find that I cannot install some programs that were on my system before. The SETUP.EXE simply hangs without any error message. Some specifics: CPU AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4600+ 2.40 GHz HDD capacity 250 GB Partition C 134 GB Partition D 93.9 GB Partition E 4.88 GB There is plenty of free space in each partition. Any clues as to possible solutions would be much appreciated. Andy | Guest

| Further to my message below, one of the installation programs gave the following error message: "Can't install all files! Please close all running IrfanView instances (the program being installed) and check your destination directory for free space and write protection." The only possibility is write protection. How do I get around it? Andy "Andy/Bandi" <kanadaiy@telus.net> wrote in message news:j5pqi.47785$Io4.42544@edtnps89... Quote:
