Installation of Intellipoint 5.5

I use a Microsoft trackball explorer trackball to mouse and I use the
Intellipoint software to change the functionfs of different buttons.

I try installing the 32bit Intellipoint 5.5 software in the 32bit version of
Vista
It has me install the software with XP SP2 compatiability mode

i get passed the license agreement install page and on the next one it asks
you to select your pointing device and click next only there is drop down
list or a list of any kind to select the pointing device...thus i cant
install the Intellipoint software....very very annoying
