| I recently had Windows XP installed, and now when I "Turn off computer" the computer shuts down but somehow turns itself on within the next hour or two. I can't receive faxes when the computer is on and in sleep mode. I would rather have the computer off during the day when I am away. Does anyone know how it is turning itself back on and/or what I can do to keep it off (besides unplugging it)? | Guest

Open your computer's BIOS and disable "wake on LAN" and/or "wake on modem or ring". If you do not know how to open the BIOS, consult your computer's owners manual for instructions. -- Ronnie Vernon Microsoft MVP Windows Shell/User Please reply to the newsgroup so all may benefit.
