Installing printer driver

I have a brand new computer with Windows XP. I also have
a brand new Lexmark X1110 all-in-one printer.

When I try to install the printer I get an error message
saying that printer driver installation failed, access is
denied.

I checked and I am setup as the computer administrator.
There is only one account, and that is mine.

My computer manufacturer says it is a problem with the
printer, the printer manufacturer says it is a problem
with the way Windows handles permissions.

Is there any way around this?
