Installing XP on a flat Latitude C610

So far, it's failed every time. It seems to fail to find the CD ROM drivers.
I don't have a rescue disk so is it possible to slipstream the drivers into
my XP disk and expect it to work? Or would I have to buy the rescue disk?

Thanks in advance.

A laptop, IIRC?

It may be possible to get round this by booting from a USB memory device
with BartPE or similar. (or even plain DOS with a CD driver)

You then run winnt.exe or winnt32.exe in the i386 folder of the Windows CD.

Otherwise, I would take the HD out and connect it to a desktop with an
adaptor, sys it (make it dos-bootable) and transfer the i386, reinstall the
disk and run winnt.exe.

These issues are always significantly more tricky on laptops owing to the
lack of a spare IDE/SATA port.

Are you saying that the computer cannot load the disk to begin the
installation?
If so, the computer is using the BIOS to load the CD-ROM. And, if the BIOS
does not recognize the CD, you have a serious problem on your hands.
