Stripe or mirror) with a Intel D865PERL and two Western Digital
WD360GD? I'm running out of options......
With raid option enabled, raid always fails using this combo (either
stripe or mirror). Works fine if an raid array is not used but is
drives are runing as 'passthrough'.This motherboard using the build-in
82801ER Intel Raid controller. Here are some things that I've tried:
Bios rev is current. (Bios_version: RL86510A.86A.0069.P12 for Intel(R)
Desktop Board D865PERL)
Hard Drive Pre-delay Options set to none, 5 seconds, 15 second and 30
sec with no effect on this issue.
I have swapped out power supply
The ATA cable are provided with purchase of the mother board.
CR13214-001, swapped with other cables with same model number.
I've swapped out the Crucial memory with 2 * 512MB DDR PC3200 Kingston
KVR400x64C3ak2
I've Swapped out Video Card with an old PCI ATI card.
Since this is happening with both Stripe and Mirror, the Stripe size
is irrelevant.
The mirror always breaks on the same channel, SATA-1.
The drives do test fine using Western Digital Hard drive testing
software.
I can get the array stable with 2 WD1200JD.
Here is the system:
Power Supply: Leadman Powermax Model LP-6001e 500Watts
ATA Cables: CR13214-001 (Included with Boxed Intel Board)
Hard Drives: Western Digital WD360GD MDL: WD360GD-75GHA0 Date: 18 AUG
2003 DCM: HBCAJAB Rev A00(Enterprise Level Hard Drives)
Memory: Crucial 2 * 512MB PC3200 Part Number CR6464z40B (Dual Channel
Paging mode)
Video: MSI G4TI400-TD
CPU: P4 3.0 GB Boxed
Motherboard: Intel(R) Desktop Board D865PERL
