Intellipoint alternatives

Posted: 01-08-2007, 05:10 AM
I recently installed Vista Ultimate, 64 bit. For the past 4 or 5 years,
I've been using a Microsoft Intellipoint Optical mouse and using
Intellipoint software up until version 4.1. When version 5 of Intellipoint
came out, there were things missing that I still wanted (Recall Window [vs.
Next Window] as a button click option and Select All as a button click
option). So, I just kept using the older 4.1 version and was fine with
that. Since I'm now running Vista64, I cannot use this old Intellipoint
software. I tried to install it to see what would happen, but it wouldn't
even install. The new 64bit Intellipoint software is missing the things
that I want as well, so I'm currently without any customizations to my extra
mouse buttons. Does anyone know of any other options that exist out there
that I can install on Vista64 to get these options back? I can define
custom keystrokes in Intellipoint, and this would work for my Select All
option, but I can't come up with a way of defining Alt+Tab.

Thanks,

Never mind this. I figured out that setting the keystrokes in the registry
is the trick:

Alt+Tab for middle click:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\IntelliPoint\ EventMapping\4]
"Keystroke"=dword:00000409
"KeystrokeText"="Alt + Tab"
