Internet Connection Problem? Help!!

Posted: 10-17-2003, 09:18 AM
My problem is getting a working connection. I have no
problems connecting to my ISP, but soon as it connects it
basically stalls and minimal data (approx 200 - 500 bytes)
is either sent or received. No page web page can be
loaded and when any other program tries to access the
internet (i.e. MSN Messenger, Outlook Express) it behaves
like there is no connection present. My connection icon
still shows that it is connected. On ringing my ISP
provider, they assure me that there servers are all fine
and still after going through the dial up settings to make
sure they are correct I still have the problem?

Hi Paul,

See if this applies/helps in your case:

Lan Settings - Proxy Server - Disable (Line 253)

Manual: IE/Tools/Internet Options/Connections/Lan Settings. Uncheck Use a
proxy server.....

Rename your hosts file: Go to: Windows\System32\DRIVERS\etc.

>Uninstall your ISp connection, first making sure that
you have all the neccessary information written down like
password and TCP\IP protocols etc. Then if you are using
XP create a new account with the wizard under connections
and enter the info again. Check with your phone co. to
make sue the line you are dialing into does not need to
be tested.
