invalid access code printing

I have a shared hp deskjet usb on a xp pro box it has been
working fine for about 4 weeks but now when tring to print
from a ME (Windows) box to the shared printer I get a
error: "Access Code Invalid printer will be set to work
off line" and this happens from 2 ME boxs. I have access
to shared files and the printer as far as permissions and
being able to install etc, I have tried reinstalling
printer but same issue. On the xp box I am using NTFS and
have permissions set and have a user account to match the
login user on the ME boxs with proper permissions. Any
ideas, or can any one explain the error access code????
