Where did you get the original XP that was originally used on your PC?

Greetings --

Are you trying to install Service Pack 1 and getting the
following:

The Product Key Used to Install Windows Is Invalid
http://support.microsoft.com/default...;en-us;Q326904

Purchase and use a legitimate full copy of WinXP Pro to perform a
repair (a.k.a. in-place upgrade) installation, using the new CD and
Product Key.

How to Perform an In-Place Upgrade of Windows XP
http://support.microsoft.com/directo...;EN-US;Q315341

Remember, you should also report whomever sold you the pirated
software to your local law enforcement agency.

Or just open it at the download site, to see the Product Key.

To whom it may concern,

You cannot install Service Pack 1 if the copy of XP you
are using has been used on another system and has been
registered. Unfortunately you will not be able to get
updates without an original copy of XP.

You have 2 options:

1. if this is a brand new system and this is your copy
with your new system you need to get ahold of tech
support and inform them of the problem, whether it be
support from whom you bought the product or Microsoft
themselve.

2. if this copy is a copy you borrowed or copied or used
before, you don't have a valid arguement. you need to
purchase an original copy if you want the updates.

Good luck,

Registration has nothing to do with installing service packs. Registration
is optional. There are 2 VL keys for the so called "Corporate" version, that
are blocked from installing SP1and were/are in wide distribution from warez
and peer to peer file sharing.

Steve,
This is public newsgroup, you really shouldn't post all that information in
your signature. You gave enough to get email spam, junk snail mail and
boiler room phone call promotions. LOL
