I see you tried to make your point here, but I can't see any 127.0.0.1...here... Maybe it's only your computer which shows this 127...

However, the address 127.0.0.1 means "localhost" on every computer that is
connected to the internet. In short, it means your computer.
You will find this ip address in your HOSTS file.

Thanks, I sort of figured that, but it is still a mystery why my posts tonewsgroups randomly(?) use 127.0.0.1 rather than the real IP address.
I'm using Windows Live Mail as the news client and posting direct to
msnews.microsoft.com.
