IRQ Hell

devices? A search on the web site says not without a re-
install (Which is not an option) I am using XP Home (OEM)
The problem is that both my GFX card (Creative 3D Blaster
TI4200) and my sound card (Creative SB Live! 5.1 Digital)
are sharing the same IRQ and although this should not
cause any problems, it is. If I try to play a game in
full screen mode, the computer will lock up after a few
seconds, the sound goes into an infinate loop and a hard
reset is needed. I have tried the latest drivers for my
GFX, MB and sound card and the same thing happens. If I
play in a window however, everything works fine.
To test that this really was the sharing causeing the
problem, I swopped the sound card into a diffrent PCI
slot started up. Windows detected new hardware and
installed the drivers for it and asked to reboot. I said
no and checked the IRQ settings, GFX card was on 10 and
sound card on 5. I tried a couple of games in full
screen mode and no lock ups. I then rebooted and windows
decided to share both devices on IRQ 10 again, and the
first game I tried locked up the computer.
