If you had SP1, did you reapply it?

I'm afriad to install SP1, SP1 slowed down my computer
dramatically when I installed it on my other machine, so i
took it off that machine. The one that I have the problem
on has never had SP1 applied on it, and I have not applied
it since upgrading. Will SP1 fix the problem? If i apply
sp1, is it likely to be messy to remove if it slows my
computer down to an unacceptable rate?
