Default Java Support?

I'm having trouble viewing a few web pages since I've
updated to XP. When I click on links that worked before
updating, I get this message "This application requires
Java support."

In the security settings I have the scripting buttons
enabled. Active, allow paste, scripting of java, all are
enabled.

Can anyone help me with why I can't view some pages
anymore?

Thanks
Mark

Default Re: Java Support?

If you are using XP SP1a, it has no JAVA support. You can download MSVN from
the link below. After installing, run Windows update for the patch.

java.sun.com - this is what windows needs to run java

Default Re: Java Support?

Greetings --

As the result of a lawsuit by Sun Microsystems, and the ensuing
settlement, Microsoft is no longer allowed to provide its own Java
Virtual Machine to Windows users. You can get almost the same
functionality by downloading Sun's version of Java from
http://java.sun.com/getjava/index.html. If you want the broader
capabilities of Microsoft's Java Virtual Machine, it is still
available from a lot of 3rd-party web sites, some of which are listed
here: http://www.java-virtual-machine.net/download.html.

If you do choose the Microsoft JVM, be sure to visit Windows
Update to apply a needed security patch.
